2My purpose is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ, 3in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.
– Col 2:1-3

My past thoughts are contained in another repository known as xanga.  I’ve gone through the liberty of making all of the posts public again because in those annals are held some of my dearest and fondest memories that I think should be free (as in speech) for people to look through.  I came across the verse I have up there.  In the post, was my outlook for the coming year 2006.  This was my mission.

Scholars speculate (sorry no citation) that the Paul wrote to the church in Colossae because they were mixing the teachings of Christ with other worldly teachings.  That’s much like a lot of people are doing nowadays.  Some people like only a part of the teachings of Christianity but they don’t like the whole thing.  So they take it upon themselves to create some new hybrid bionic cybernetic faith that is an amalgamation of this and that and the other.  We’re fickle beings.  Sometimes this happens to Christianity, where we accept things that are of the world into a lifestyle that’s supposed to be Christ-like.  Wars, murder, hate, greed.  It’s there.

I know a lot of people professing to be Christians and oftimes it tears me apart to see the name of Christ be used in that way.  Where are the ones that have been transformed to be like Christ?  Where are the ones that love their neighbour as themself?  Where are the ones that feed the hungry, clothe the naked and tend to the sick?  Where is the unified Christendom that moves throughout the nations enacting the Gospel into the lives of others?

Rhetorical or not, look into your lives those of you who profess to be Christ-ians.

Our purpose is that the nations will be encouraged in heart and unified in love so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding in order that they may know the mystery of God—Father, Son and Spirit—in whom are hidden all treasures of wisdom and understanding.
