Photoblog!
I had the chance to bag a 17-35 2.8 for only 1 grand, but someone snatched it out from under me. So, in honor of that, these were all shot on the shorter end of my 18-55 3.5-5.6. These shots span the past week or two.
Kudos to my fabulous impromptu specimens. They are all extremely delightful.
love, not war

War blinds people to think that statistics are just numbers. Veils need to be lifted off the eyes of the masses to have finally revealed that behind every single ‘one’ is one person. A person that is the son or daughter, mother or father of some other ‘one’. We must quickly destruct the notion that killing people is the answer to the problem and see that war is the only weapon of mass destruction.
official: d700 is d3’s smaller brother
July 1, 2008
It’s real. The mid-range DSLR you’ve been waiting for: Nikon’s D700 DSLR packs the D3’s supernaturally low-noise 12.1-megapixel full-frame image sensor into a smaller, lighter body, for only $2999.

*drool* I am now opening up a separate savings account to portion away money for this. I just need 2999 CAD more to go.
On a separate note, I’d like to give birthday greetings to:
- Canada
- Charmaine
- Joy
zomg, full frame nikon d700?
June 18, 2008
Word on the street is that there is a new Nikon ready to hit the streets.
The rumor mill has been pumping out whispers of a mid-range full frame DSLR to rival the more affordable Canon 5D (the 5D runs at around 2200 CAD vs. Nikon’s D3 at 5000+ CAD). Here’s hoping. (=
More on that rumored mid-range full-frame DSLR from Nikon, and this looks a lot realer, with some decently convincing promo materials for the D700. Specs include a full-frame 12.1MP CMOS sensor (same as the D3’s), and a 51-point AF system, also the same as the D3. ISO range is 200-6400, or 100-25600 extended. So, uh, what differentiates it from the D3 other than the apparently small body and hopefully smaller price? Beats us for now, but we’re hyped

photoblog: entropy is the new rands
June 13, 2008
The word random and all of its derivatives (rands, randoms, randiferous, randtastic) is old school. Let’s move on to entropy and its derivatives.
Today was an entropitous day. On my walk to the bus (aside: I think the public transit system in Vancouver is great) I walk by a small field that is infested with the most cuddly, furry, cutesy dutesy wild rabbits. There are several tiny ones so I take it they just finished a mating cycle. Unfortunately, I saw one strewn across the road with its insides freshly squeezed by the wheel of a thousand-plus pound automobile. I didn’t take a photo of that one.
I went to school to get some housekeeping done and the lady helping me out kindly said that it would take a week or so until I would hear a response from them.
I walked out and catched Ant walking into his lab. I told him I had a daypass and was going to roam around.
I then decided to give Mumta a call because she wanted to hang out. I walk around Gastown to kill time and tell her to go all the way to Waterfront. I walk around and just catch the steam clock whistling.
She brought along Mel (はじめまして) and we go to Lonsdale Quay (pronounce that).
Here’s some food for thought for those that have been on the Seabus. Why on earth does the emergency hatch lead below levels? If, worst-case scenario, the ship were to sink, wouldn’t you want to head up to higher ground rather than go towards where there is water?
We grab a bite, eat some ice cream, go to Robson, and meet up entripitously with their friend Camille (はじめまして) and spend her break in the world-famous Starbucks across from the Starbucks.
Everybody parts ways and I come home to watch the Celtics come-back after being down 20 in the third quarter.
Good times all around.
