canucks update

March 13, 2008

I’m finding it’s getting more and more frustrating to watch the Canucks play.  I want them to score so badly, but they’re not gelling.  Passes are poor.  They don’t shoot enough.

Positive note: the goaltending is stupendous.  Luongo, game in and game out, robs attackers standing on his head.

Come on Canucks.

General Manager Dave Nonis announced today that left wing Matt Pettinger was acquired from the Washington Capitals in exchange for left wing Matt Cooke.

Yeah, Cookie and Vigneault never really saw eye-to-eye. He even said that he’s looking forward to playing in a place where they want him. So, a Matt for a Matt. People say he’s a younger, bigger, cheaper version of Cookie. Cookie, you done good for us Canucks.

The Avalanche announced this afternoon that they have come to terms on a one-year contract with Peter Forsberg, who spent nine seasons in Colorado from 1995-2004 and won the Stanley Cup in 1996 and 2001.
